One way we assist a missionary in the Philippines is by providing her with 50 shoe boxes filled with toys, toiletries, and clothing. These boxes of goodies are Christmas presents for the children in her orphanage. One of our volunteers, Vickie, is decorating each of the boxes.
A lot of work goes into preparing a Christmas package for missionaries. Every family does not receive the same stuff. That means out of about 90 packages, no two package are alike! We start early (like in December) collecting items for each member of a missionary family. In October we actually tag the items and pack the boxes. Our first Christmas care package to a missionary family ships out in October because it goes by boat. Most of our other Christmas care packages ship out in November. We have to plan well in advance in order to make sure each missionary family receives their package in time for Christmas!
